About Rewind
A place for the things we remember.
A virtual museum exploring toys, video games, and cartoons from 1980–2005, and newer retro releases inspired by that era’s worlds and characters.
Our aim is to connect the memories of play with the creativity behind them. Rewind has a Pacific Northwest identity and is being developed by Jeremy Clark.
Why “Retro”?
Our reference era is 1980–2005. Newer items based on the toys, games, cartoons, and intellectual property of that period belong here too, with their actual release dates clearly identified.
The collection & artwork sources
Our Super Sentai exhibits draw on Super Sentai Art Collection: Sentai Robo Edition 1975–2002, paired with images of the actual toys. The 1994 Bandai Catalogue is our first companion source for toy photographs. Our Stories collection ranges more widely: animation model sheets, game artwork, toy catalogs and the people who made them. Each article identifies its sources and distinguishes documented history from our reading of the images.
Article covers are credited as either AI editorial illustrations or original artwork. Generated covers are new interpretations, not historical evidence. Authentic artwork, model sheets and toy photographs within the articles carry their own source credits.
SuPrimer, the homepage robot, and Beta, its eagle aircraft companion, are original, decorative AI-generated mascots inspired by retro devices and Japanese super robot illustration. The miniature playset background is an imagined, AI-generated world. Neither is an archival photograph or evidence about a historical toy. Characters and original artwork belong to their respective creators and rights holders.
Rights holders: if you see your work here and would like a credit corrected or an image taken down, email jeremy.clark@rewindnorthwest.org and we will take care of it promptly.
Where we are today
The virtual collection is open to browse, with researched exhibits and stories about toys, games and cartoons. We continue to develop and improve it. There is no physical collection, venue, or opening date.
